Tracey Human awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal

This well-deserved recognition highlights Tracy’s decades-long dedication and leadership in hospice palliative care.

We are delighted to share the wonderful news that Tracey Human, RN, CHPCN(C), Director of the Palliative Care, Pain & Symptom Management Consultation Toronto Program and Consultant at Dorothy Ley Hospice, has been awarded the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal.

The King Charles III Coronation Medal is a distinguished honour awarded to individuals who have made remarkable contributions to their fields, communities, and the country. Tracey is one of 25 recipients—all champions for hospice palliative care from across Canada—to receive this medal this year, underscoring her extraordinary work in advancing person-centered, dignity-affirming hospice palliative care.

Tracey has been a tireless advocate and leader, championing compassionate, inclusive, and equitable high-quality palliative care for all individuals and their families at any age and stage of their illness journey and experience. Her work focuses on capacity building provider competency and confidence in all care settings in the provision of the palliative approach to care from diagnosis through to end-of-life. Her work extends far beyond the walls of Dorothy Ley Hospice, touching lives across Ontario, Canada and abroad.

“How we care for and serve others matters. Meeting standards equates to the minimum requirement, consistently surpassing standards to excellence is the goal. Knowledge must resonate and be transferred through our hearts to hands that touch others. This is the art and science of palliative care. Many are suffering who need us to be great at what we do. Quality is defined by those we are caring for; their measurement confirms our achievement of practicing to excellence. It takes a team with skill honed by the people and families we serve. Their legacy I am honored to have shared in and strive to carry forward. To advance further we do so together.” – Tracey Human (learn more about Tracey here)

Her inspiring leadership enriches our community and the broader hospice palliative care sector. Thank you, Tracey, for your exceptional contributions and for being such a vital part of the Dorothy Ley Hospice community of care.
