Thanks to our community, Dorothy Ley Hospice is staying connected

At Dorothy Ley Hospice, every phone call matters. It might be a family member reaching out in a moment of worry, a volunteer confirming a shift, or a neighbour calling to ask how they can help. That’s why we’re so grateful to share this good news: thanks to a $21,100 Capital Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), we’re replacing our ageing landline phones with a modern system that will help us stay connected to the people who count on us.
For 36 years, our hospice has been a place of comfort and compassion — supporting individuals facing serious illness, and walking alongside families and loved ones through grief and loss. Support like this from OTF helps make sure we can keep showing up for our community, today and for years to come.
“For 36 years, Dorothy Ley Hospice has provided compassionate palliative care to individuals facing serious illness, while also supporting families and loved ones through grief and loss,” said Rudy Cuzzetto, MPP for Mississauga–Lakeshore. “Through a $21,100 Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, our government is helping the hospice replace ageing landline infrastructure with modern technology that will strengthen communication, improve community outreach, and help to ensure patients and families can continue to receive the care and support they can count on.”
A Community Investment
The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the Government of Ontario that invests in community organizations across the province and we’re deeply thankful to be one of them. This grant is more than a technology upgrade; it’s a vote of confidence in the work our staff and volunteers do every day, and in the families who trust us during some of life’s hardest moments.
With this new system in place, our community can count on:
- Warmer, more reliable connections between our team, patients, and families
- Easier outreach, so we can stay in touch with the community that supports us
- Fewer disruptions, so no call goes unanswered when it matters most
- A stronger foundation for the hospice as we continue to grow and serve the communities of Etobicoke, east Mississauga and west Toronto
