Proposed Integration with Hazel Burns Hospice

Exciting update for our community
We want to share an important update about the future of community hospice care in our community.
The Boards of Dorothy Ley Hospice and Hazel Burns Hospice have approved a proposal to integrate Hazel Burns Hospice’s community services with Dorothy Ley Hospice’s community hospice program. The proposal is now subject to the required review and approval process with Ontario Health and the Ministry of Health.
If approved, Hazel Burns Hospice’s community services would become part of Dorothy Ley Hospice’s community hospice program, and Hazel Burns Hospice would wind down its operations. The integration is expected to take effect on April 1, 2027.
This proposed change is grounded in our shared commitment to compassionate, person-centred care. By bringing our community hospice services together, we hope to strengthen access, improve coordination, and create a stronger and more sustainable service for people and families now and into the future.
There are no immediate changes to current services while the review and approval process is underway. Our teams remain focused on providing the compassionate care and support that people and families depend on.
