Care for people living with grief and loss

Our dedicated grief support team is here to provide compassionate care and guidance to individuals and families coping with loss.  You don’t need to have a previous connection to the hospice and can self-refer to our services. There is no charge for our grief and bereavement services.

What we offer

You don’t need to feel alone with your grief. Trained bereavement volunteers offer supportive listening and companionship for individuals who are grieving.

Our Understanding Grief webinar is held monthly and is a wonderful resource for the newly bereaved. This webinar is encouraged as a starting point to exploring the many ways grief can impact your life and offer some general coping strategies.

Groups offer supportive and safe spaces to explore grief with others experiencing similar losses. We offer a variety of groups led by professional counsellors or trained volunteers, including:

  • Spousal Loss Support Group
  • Parent Loss Support Group
  • Men’s Coffee Chat
  • Walking Through Grief
  • Expressive Arts and Grief

Our professional staff of counsellors provide a safe space to express and explore your individual response to grief and learn coping strategies suited to you. Sessions are offered by videoconference or in person on site at the hospice. Up to eight sessions are provided per person.

Our remembrance events are offered to our community as a way to come together and honour our loved ones and our collective grief. These events include our Evening of Remembrance and The Longest Night.

Our wellness services provide care that can be restorative and relaxing. We have a range of wellness offerings that can benefit our grief clients. The services are offered by trained volunteers in person at the hospice, or by distance. Offerings include:

  • Therapeutic Touch®
  • Reiki
  • Gentle Aroma Touch
  • Meditation and yoga groups (online)

Navigating grief can be hard work. We are here to help.
