Programs & Services
More than 90 per cent of Canadians say they would prefer to die in their own homes. Our Community Program offers support services to enable people to do just that. In fact, where only 25 per cent of the population is able to die at home, more than 70 per cent of individuals served by The Dorothy Ley Hospice are able to do so.
The Community Care Program offers services to enable people to remain in their homes for as long as possible.
The Residential Care Program provides 24-hour care in a home-like environment during the last three months of life when remaining at home is no longer an option.
To enhance the knowledge and skills of those involved in palliative
care, The Dorothy Ley Hospice develops and coordinates a variety of
educational programs for palliative care professionals and for members
of the local community.
Anyone accessing our Community or Residential Programs has access to the following services: care coordination, in-home visiting, day program, integrative wellness, spiritual care, bereavement care, and referrals to additional service providers.
We address people’s physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical needs through our services.
